The environment

As a soil cleaning and recycling company AWS is well aware that must set an example as far as the environment is concerned. All soil cleaning activities are conducted in enclosed areas fitted with air extraction and active carbon filters.

All machines are fitted with a separate air filters and a warning system to indicate when they are saturated, so that our workers are not exposed to contaminants during soil treatment.

By processing and storing soil in sheds we avoid dust nuisance from wind and prevent rainwater from coming into contact with the soil so that leachates do not contaminate surface waters. Wherever possible AWS moves contaminated soils by water, which not only reduces the number of lorry’s on the road but lowers the amount of carbon put into the atmosphere by 80% and nitrogen dioxide by 35%.
